The concerts will spotlight emerging artists in cities around the world.

Music streaming and discovery platform Audiomack is taking its popular Hometown Heroes playlists on the road, the company announced on Tuesday (July 23). The new initiative, entitled Hometown Heroes Live, will see the hip-hop-oriented service partner with Live Nation Urban for a multi-city concert series to highlight rising and established talent around the world.

“Audiomack is thrilled to partner with Live Nation Urban to bring our Hometown Heroes series to life,” said Audiomack senior director marketing and brand strategy Jason Johnson in a statement. “By combining our platform’s unparalleled insight into rising talent with Live Nation Urban’s unmatched event production and promotion expertise, the 2019 Hometown Heroes Live concert series will highlight the artists driving the social conversation with young consumers at a price point that is -- like our platform -- accessible to all music fans.”

Curated by local tastemakers, the Hometown Heroes playlists -- the brainchild of Audiomack’s director of marketing Joe Vango -- provide a snapshot of emerging sounds in 19 major markets around the world. The concert series, which is sponsored by herbal wrap company High Hemp, is set to kick off Aug. 16 at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City with Lil Tjay, Flipp Dinero, Casanova, Jay Gwuapo, and 22Gz. “The opportunity for Live Nation Urban to partner with Audiomack on such a unique concept is one of the reasons why we exist as a company,” added Live Nation Urban vp business development and operations Brandon Pankey. “Hometown Heroes is an exciting event series that will resonate with fans of hip-hop for years to come.”

Other upcoming stops on the Hometown Heroes Live tour include Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Atlanta, with additional dates, artists and venues to be announced soon.

Founded in 2012 by Dave Macli and Dave Ponte as a mixtape hosting site, Audiomack has more recently emerged as one of the most influential underground streaming services. Last September, Eminem chose it to debut his Machine Gun Kelly diss track “Killshot"; other exclusives have included new music from Nicki Minaj, J. Cole and Chance the Rapper. The formerly all-free service recently introduced a premium tier for $5 a month.
